PTFA
PTFA 2024
We are the Parents, Teachers & Friends of Joseph Hood Primary School (PFTA). We organise both fundraising events and enjoyable social functions for parents, staff and children. We are very enthusiastic about our efforts and work closely with Mrs Saville and the staff to enrich school life and our children’s education. Everyone with a child at our school is welcome and encouraged to get involved. You are all welcome to attend any meeting and we always want to hear new ideas.

Our Events
Our events include coffee mornings, cake sales; second-hand uniform sales; children’s discos and after-school entertainment; evening quiz night; a Christmas and summer fair and social evenings out organised by class reps. All these events are organised and run by volunteers and we always welcome new parents getting involved. Our volunteers are mums and dads, full-time and part-time workers & others are at home looking after their children – a really mixed bunch! If you get involved you can decide how much or how little you want to do: maybe you can bake a cake, sell some raffle tickets, design a poster or help plan the Summer Fair. It is up to you.
Support the school
The money we raise goes towards buying new books and equipment for the school, subsidises school trips and supports extracurricular activities. We also help to fund major school projects, such as a stage for the hall, new ICT equipment and developing the main playground.
Make friends
We have a very friendly and supportive community at our school, with our PTFA at the heart of it. We organise a number of events during the year that bring the children, staff and parents together socially. Keep in touch
We hold regular Friday morning meetings each term in the school for coffee, updates and a chat. We always need new fundraising ideas and practical support, so please come and join us. You can do as little or as much as you choose and young children are welcome too. We also organise some evening meetings so that working parents can attend. We send out regular newsletters, have an active facebook page and have Class Reps who circulate PTFA emails, organise social events and look for people to help out at events as and when they are needed. If you are unable to attend meetings, it’s still easy to keep in touch and get involved. We are a very active community and always warmly welcome anyone new. We look forward to meeting you.
